Identify ways to improve. Increase competence.

As a new graduate nurse, you will need to continually define priorities, find supporting evidence and then implement what you learn. Evidence-Based Practice is the third course of the acclaimed Transition to Practice series. Through interactive exercises and guided discussions with your preceptor or experienced colleague, you’ll grow in research skills and confidence!*

NCSBN developed this material as a result of the 2011-2013 Transition to Practice study. By investing an hour a week for six months (to complete the full course series), you’ll strengthen your core competencies and improve patient outcomes.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Define evidence-based practice
  • Write a researchable clinical question
  • Describe how to find answers to the clinical question
  • Explain the connection between research evidence and practice guidelines.

*In order to meet the National Academy of Medicine’s (formerly the Institute of Medicine) stated goal, you will need 90% of your practice of nursing based on evidence by the year 2020.
