Empowering nursing. Improving health care.

As a new graduate nurse, you need to understand how technology is needed to create usable information and support the practice of nursing. Informatics is the fifth course of the Transition to Practice series. As you apply information from this highly interactive course, you’ll take advantage of workable tools that have the power to engage patients and families, throughout the care continuum.

NCSBN developed this course based on the results of the 2011-2103 Transition to Practice study. By investing an hour a week for six months (to complete the five course program), you’ll strengthen your core competencies and improve patient outcomes.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Discuss how informatics supports a learning health care system
  • Distinguish between data, information and knowledge
  • Articulate how health information technology is used to manage patient information
  • Explain how connected care tools are used to enhance health outcomes
